Yukon Historic Resources Fund (YHRF)

The Yukon Historic Resources Fund (YHRF) was established to provide a source of funding for projects that promote the study and interpretation of Yukon’s historic resources and further the promotion, appreciation, preservation and development of Yukon’s heritage.

Am I eligible?

Eligible applicants include private citizens, groups (including societies, businesses, etc.), First Nations and municipalities. Priority will be given to Yukon applicants over those applying from outside the territory.

Generally, the types of projects that will be considered include:

  • archaeology
  • palaeontology
  • community museums
  • First Nations Heritage or Cultural Centres
  • historic sites
  • native language preservation
  • toponymy
  • historical research

The Fund will assist a component of a long-term project provided there is a product associated with that component.

The Fund is not intended to support:

  • core programs
  • operations and maintenance requirements for long-term projects or programs
  • curriculum-based projects
  • personal and professional development or education

How much funding can I get?

The YHRF provides matching funding up to 50% of project costs to a maximum of $10,000. While the total project value may exceed $20,000, applications requesting more than $10,000 from the YHRF will not be considered.

When is the deadline?

The application deadline is March 15 at 5:00 p.m. annually.
